PAINTBOX COLLABORATOR: PAULA OLLEY

THE ARTIST: PAULA OLLEY
Paula Olley is a Canterbury based Painter deeply influenced from the experiences as a young child growing up within the vast and stunning landscapes of Australia and later years along the east coast of England.
Land and Seascapes, often with dramatic and atmospheric skies, are a recurring subject for her work.
Sometimes it’s a specific location that inspires a painting other times the subjects are more representative of a place or of experiences from memory and imagination combined.
Either way she always hopes to capture some of the beauty she sees in the world around & perhaps evoke a mood or feeling of calm contemplation from a seascape, or to invite interpretation and question from the more emotive paintings.
Her preferred medium is oil on canvas.
Sizes vary from very small study paintings -10 x10 cms to large scale works up to 1.5 x 3 meters.
Although she has had some formal training she considers herself self taught with painting techniques.

‘My urge to paint is stronger than ever now, for which I am truly thankful , although the journey ahead feels very different .
I guess there’s never a more important time for us all across the globe to find different ways to be creative with life and the time we have. ‘
